Weekend Recap
Finished knitting my pullover!!!
Don’t think I can debut it until winter which is kind of a shame but it’s my own fault for taking so long.
The blocking process went a lot faster this time around. I could have used better schematics (only had length from shoulder to hem, width of sleeve, and width of body at underarms) but there hasn’t been a project where I didn’t feel this way.
On Saturday I had dim sum (or yum cha) with the family.
For those that don’t know what it’s like, the food sits in a cart Β and gets pushed around all the tables. If you spot something you want you wave the cart down and the food is brought to you.
Below are some of the things we ordered–chicken feet, fried squid, and various dumplings. With chicken feet you’re constantly spitting out cartilage and bone. Most don’t mind but when I ate meat it was too much of a pain.
Another two dishes worth mentioning are pig blood and pig rectum. The blood is coagulated and served in cube form while the rectum is sliced and served with veggies (below). From what I hear both have a very strong taste.
If you ever get the chance to have dim sum, go! They do have more normal things like shrimp, veggies, egg rolls, or noodles. I just picked the weirder things to share.
Happy Sunday!
Hi! I love your cardigan. I love how you did the cables across the garment instead of vertically, not something I’ve really though about! I always thought cabled sweaters are a little heavy and bulky but yours has such a clean look. Also, dum sum…yum. Very hungry now.
Hi there! Thank you! I love thick cables but get what you mean about them looking heavy and bulky. I prefer the look of finer knit garments, they just take so much longer to make.
Pig rectum huh? I would definitely try it just to say I did! Cuz how many people can actually say they’ve eaten and enjoyed a pig rectum? Well, lots have obviously or the wouldn’t serve it, but you know what I mean π Your kitting skillz are legit and, again, I really need to learn how! We sell Swans Island yarn at our shop and it’s soooo dreamy! I like to hold it. That’s about all I can do with it haha! Give Lily a smooch for me π
I haven’t eaten meat in years otherwise i’d totally try it too. It just sounds so… Unappetizing! And you do, think of all the sweaters you could make Lucille!!!
Pig rectum??? Gross! We have a little pet piggie and let me tell you, although she’s small the size of her deposits in the backyard are gigantic. Can’t imagine eating that part of the body. Yikes! Bring on the vegetarian dumplings, though!
Oh man. Maybe that’s why they serve it with such flavorful veggies 0_o.
The blood dish makes me want to gag.
I do every time.
i said it before and i’ll say it again, you are a knitting goddess.
You are too sweet. I’m just good at following instructions π
Hmmm pig rectum. I don’t think I could actually bring myself to eat that. I have a really bad mind over matter issue. If I think somethings weird I can barely bring it to my mouth without gagging. Love the sweater. I agree with everyone else, you are a knitting goddess!
Would it be better if someone told you the pig rectum was something else and revealed the truth after the fact?! My brother got tricked into eating it. He said it was good until he found out what it was. And thank you!
it looks amazing sitting blocking! So cute π I love the cables. Dim sum sounds fun…but pig rectum and cubes of blood sounds scary!! Haha.
Thanks!
Ohhh my lord. Pig rectum and congealed blood? That’s a little much for me and I’m relatively adventurous food-wise. Hoo boy.
In other news, that knitting project looks amazing! I’m in awe. I’ve never knitted and if I did I think it would come out looking like some shapeless yarn-monster. Frankly the ball of yarn would look better-knit than anything I could create.
I realized that I told you I was in awe of the capelet in your last post. Boo for repeat comments, but I stand by it both times. π
Sometimes the blood is put in soup…would that make it easier for you to handle?!
Yarn monsters can be cute too? π
Thank you π
What a beautiful knit. Can’t wait to see it modeled! Dim sum?!… Yummy! Though I’ve not ever had coagulated pig’s blood or pig’s rectum (?!! never even hear of this one. Hehe) in Singapore. After looking at the first dim sum picture I am seriously craving some siew mai and har gao…
You’re in Singapore?! I knew you were far away, but not *that* far away. Siew mai was my favorite!!!
Dim Sum sounds amazing, minus the pig blood and pig rectum. Your sweater also looks amazing. Can’t wait to see it, even if it will be in awhile
Thanks! The first chance I get I’ll wear it. Even if that means it’ll only be worn for a few hours in the morning.
Love the lines on the pullover! It’s gonna be super cute, if it ever cools off again before October to wear it. I’m jealous of all that dim sum, do you go somewhere local? I haven’t been able to find anything closer than LA that I liked. Mmmm buns…
I’ll email you!
J’adore le modΓ¨le de ton pull ! Il est superbe !
Merci beaucoup!
