To practice I made mini face cloths.

I was a bit grossed out with the garish colors (yeah, that’s neon orange) but after rearranging them…

…they didn’t seem as garish.

My little one has been incredibly cute as of late. See?

That cushion she’s trying to sleep on is one I made last year TWO YEARS AGO (dang time flies).

The back is completely finished, what you’re seeing is half the front (it’s worked left to right).

An oversized pullover with fingering-weight yarn on size 3 needles? On it.

(That red monstrosity is my Hemlock Ring Blanket. It was at the back of my closet for two years and I brought it out for a proper block… the first time it was just steamed at the dry cleaners. Cray cray, I know.)

Stupid thoughts always flood my brain. Does it look handmade? Does it look like an amateur made it? Does anyone recognize the pattern? Do I look like an old lady? AM I MORE APPROACHABLE NOW?!

I wear things I’ve sewn all the time but it’s different. I guess I just have more confidence in my sewing skills because I’ve been doing that for so long.

And you know what else is strange? Taking outfit photos. Nova was onto something when she did hers in pieces.

In case you don’t recognize it I’m wearing my Akoya cardigan. I have pictures of me in my Beatnik sweater but those have to be retaken.

Especially studded ones.

With this project I learned:

Shawls have no place in my wardrobe. I tried wearing it as a triangle scarf but I can’t do it. Rectangular  scarves and loop cowls ’til the end.

Blocking is time consuming and requires practice. 

I’m probably blocking too hard if the foam mat tears where the pin is inserted.

I should’ve stopped and frogged as soon as those I-don’t-really-like-this thoughts popped into my head.

I don’t know what the color looks like to you but in real life it’s rasberry-ish with tufts of blue, pink, and yellow. Nice and tweedy, I dig it. I had to add an extra button at the top because my size in the pattern didn’t have one there (guess the math didn’t work out?).

Question for the computer savvy–is there a rule of thumb as far as color saturation for photos so it’s decent (I know there’s going to be some variation) across all monitors? It looks fine on my laptop but I went to my Mom’s desktop and was nearly blinded.

I finished knitting my cardigan and blocked it yesterday. As it was drying I cast on another project, the Holden Shawlette. I’m not really into shawls but figured I’d give it a go. I’m using a skein of Cascade Heritage that was gifted to me a few years back and crossing my fingers I have enough to finish.
