Fangirls

March 25, 2012

I went to L.A. with a few friends for dinner and a movie yesterday. I make it sound like it was no big deal but believe you me, it so was.

See it wasn’t just any movie, oh no.

It was a movie where tickets were purchased a month in advance.

It was a movie that had to be seen in IMAX.

It was a movie called The Hunger Games.

THE FREAKING HUNGER GAMES.

We were in hysterics during the cave scene. So awkward, so great. Here’s a reenactment.

There were a few moments in the movie where I heard intense sobbing from the people around me. Of the four friends I went with, one cried and two struggled to keep the tears back. If you read the book I think it’s a must see but don’t go into the movie expecting the best book to movie translation (I think HP did a better job of that).

Rewind to Monday: My dentist told me I need a bone graft. According to google that means my jaw will be busted and a bone from a cadaver inserted in the gap. Have any of you had one done? Is it as bad as it sounds?

A few other pictures from my week.

In the picture below  my brother and I were channeling our inner scene kid. Remember them? With their bangs pulled from the back across the forehead and held up with bobby pins because they fought gravity so hard? I tried teasing up the back but Asian hair can only do so much (and by that I mean it will only lay flat).

It rained today so I brought out my rainboots. Lily had to wear her sweater, the last thing I needed was a wet dog in my lap.

I think I need to make her a turquoise and red one…

Happy Sunday!

I saw the Hunger Games, too, and the lady next to me was crying so hard I felt like I needed to comfort her! I’m so glad she had tissues with her. My hubby, whom I’ve seen cry 3 times in 19 years, cried over Rue. What a powerful story!

Wow, I bet that must’ve been a shock with your hubby! It was great.

What is your bone graft supposed to fix? It sounds weirdly fascinating.

I think Lily definitely needs another sweater to match your boots!

Something didn’t heal properly when my wisdom teeth were removed (grew in sideways) and now that they’re gone there’s an epic dip behind my teeth.

You have a gap in your jaw? The anthropologist in me wants to know more, but my regular self is bummed that your jaw has to be broken :( That blows.

Yeah I should probably stop googling because it’s making me more scared than I should be.

Your dog is the cutest dog. Jeez.

Also I hope it is not as bad as it sounds holy moly.

oh my god bone graft!! cadaver??? what if you get a haunted piece?
i thought they did a pretty good job with the hunger games, except neither peeta nor gail were hot at all! soooooo disappointing.

A haunted piece would be really unfortunate. And I was actually pleasantly surprised with Peeta! When I read the book I imagined a pudgy ugly kid. Gale’s not too bad. I do love how they didn’t include Peeta’s heartbreak at the end though. I like him a lot more in the movie than in the book (I found him too whiny).

Oh damn, I am pretty sure I need that bone graft mess as well. I still have pretty much all of my baby teeth with no adult teeth behind them, so they want to rip them out and do bunch of stuffs and I’m just all “…….my baby teeth work fine THANK YOU VERY MUCH”

also i’ve never read the hunger game books, everyone keeps telling me to but i don’t know man, i am glad you had fun, though! love those rain boots too so snazzy
