Wool and the Gang
February 24, 2010
What is this madness? Wool and the Gang’s Peruvian Wool Vest kit is being sold on Net-A-Porter for $140. I can’t imagine someone buying this–people who already know how to knit could (and probably will) easily make up their own version (or better yet, a nicer one), and those who can’t wouldn’t be silly enough to purchase this kit for their first project…right?
Now I’m wondering if the “Try it on at home. If it doesn’t fit, return shipping is free.” policy still applies.

Wool and the Gang always baffles me. $140 is a reasonable price if someone took the time to hand knit it and it was the finished object for sale but for only yarn and needles?! It’s not that hard to find out the average cost of yarn so who would pay that?
Also, the idea of knitting a back that wide on straights that short makes me cringe.
Seriously!!! I’ve actually abandoned straight needles all together though–I knit flat pieces with my KP circs!
140 USD for a kit?

Perhaps Victoria Beckham will buy it if she likes knitting XD
